I want this website to be a resource not only for finding a great tampa engagement photographer, but also a resource for wedding planning with helpful advice and tips. One of the first things I am usually asked about are locations for engagement photos in Tampa and theres a few factors that may make one location stand out for each couple. Some of these factors may include: whether they prefer indoor or outdoor locations, if there are nearby locations with sentimental value for them, the time of day or if they can bring their dog (you’ll need an outdoor location for that). Thankfully there many places for engagement photos in Tampa with access to world-class beaches, museums, and historic buildings that you really do have a lot of options for variety in your photos. This is a list of my personal recommendations, but it is by no means every possible location. If you find the need for more to consider feel free to reach out and ask by using the form at the bottom of this post.
Outdoor engagement session locations
University of Tampa and Plant Park
I love this location because you can take pictures inside the university or museum, outdoors in the park, or down the riverwalk. Its an excellent balance between history and plant life. It can be slightly crowded in the evenings with college kids, so you may want to aim for an early morning or sunrise session here.
S Plant Ave, Tampa, FL 33606
The Tampa Theatre is conveniently located downtown and is one of the top places for Tampa engagement photography. It’s extremely centrally located downtown, there are even a few gardens and the Tampa riverwalk nearby. You do have to time your sessions in between showtimes though unless you want a ton of strangers in the background.
711 N Franklin St, Tampa, FL 33602
Curtis Hixon Park, Kiley Gardens and the Riverwalk.
This is the perfect location for the cityscape in the background and its right along the Hillsborough River. The sun set is just over the river, but it can be a little crowded so be prepared to have an audience of sorts. Either way you can go wrong here for your engagement photography in Tampa.
600 N Ashley Dr, Tampa, FL 33602
Located just northeast of downtown Tampa, Ybor City is the only neighborhood on Florida’s west coast to be designated a National Historic Landmark. It’s got tons of charm and murals to choose from. Ybor is also home to wild chickens which are protected descendants of chickens brought over by Cuban immigrants. As a Tampa engagement photographer, I really love the architecture, signage and historic spaces available for your engagement photos.
Columbia Restorante Adress:
1600 E 8th St Ybor City, Florida
Downtown St. Pete
Vinoy Park, the pier, theres so much in St. Pete to work with. I LOVE the artwork in St. Pete. Maybe its because I am from the midwest and the “artwork” was usually the f word colorfully sprayed on a train there but I’m entirely obsessed with these murals. The colors from the murals are sure to make your outfits stand out and its a really fun way to tour the city together as well. Visit www.stpetemuraltour.com to see all the current murals.
701 Bayshore Dr NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
Indoor places to take engagement photos
It’s Florida, sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate. Instead of rescheduling you can always use one of these spaces for your engagement session. Some of these locations do require a permit fee for sessions, most require a reservation/permission of some kind.
Armature works is a huge place on the River in Tampa. There are multiple interior locations in addition to gorgeous spaces outside the venue. Another bonus is that there are bars and restaurants on-site if for a post session date.
1910 N Ola Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
At just a half-hour drive from Tampa, the museum is within walking distance from a host of local attractions including the South Yacht Basin and Vinoy Park. The hyper modern aesthetic and unique architecture is definitely going to help create stand out engagement photos as well. Bonus: You can get married here too.
701 Bayshore Dr NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
Not only is Station House St. Pete a perfect place for engagement photos, it is also a unique cocktail and restaurant concept housed in a historic former fire station built in 1911 in downtown St. Petersburg. In addition to being gorgeous on the inside there is also a rooftop with views to die for.
260 1st Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33701
Hyde House is a curated, gallery-style event and workspace. Located in the heart of the village in the newly constructed H Building, Hyde House is a beautiful curated space that would make an excellent choice for engagement photos in Tampa.
1646 W Snow Ave, Tampa, FL 33606
Oxford Exchange Bookstore
The Oxford Exchange is a combination of a bookstore, a restaurant and a wedding venue. It is an interesting mix of aesthetics being part industrial and part art deco. There is a pretty impressive staircase there as well just begging to be part of an engagement photograph.

Alternative Engagement Photos in Tampa Ideas.
Honestly, theres no limit to where you have your engagement photos in Tampa. Why not pick a place thats special to you and your partner? I have seen people rock engagement sessions at Ikea, Home Depot, libraries or even your favorite restaurant can work. One couple back in Indiana did a session at a zoo and had DOLPHINS in their images. Literally, I did a session with dolphins, zebras, fireworks, and bubbles. That couple had a great time and they will remember that day forever.

Your story is unique and you deserve the best photographer fit to tell your story.
I only work with about thirty (30) couples per year, so I don’t take every wedding I am approached to photograph. The couples I do work with share in my brand value.
They are obsessed with each other, laid back, and ready to celebrate in their own way.
I can’t wait to hear more about you and your story. Fill out the contact form and I will be in touch basically as soon as humanly possible.
